This Pit Bull Had to do the ‘Doggy Paddle’ for 2 Miles!
What was supposed to be a bathroom break outside turned into Gypsy the pit bull deciding to jump over the backyard sea wall. She then became a swimming dog in the New River and continued swimming for 2 miles before getting fished out.
The owner John Calia and his son Tyler searched everywhere for over two hours in the morning but came up empty.
“Her legs are about six inches long,” he said. “[But] she’s a very strong dog.”
The swimming dog was strong enough to go from her backyard all the way to the Secret Woods Nature Center.
Two men from the Steel Marine Towing and Salvage, Jim Steel and Ryan Little, were coming back from their first tow of the day when they saw the swimming dog in the middle of the river trying to get ashore.
