Kangaroo Dog has a chance to walk like a normal dog
Tigger, a pit bull puppy mix, was born with ectrodactyly, also known as “lobster claw”, which makes his front paws deformed and split in a claw-like way. As a result, this causes Tigger to use his hind legs to get around. Making him more like a kangaroo dog.
“Tigger assumes that everybody is his new best friend, no matter who you are,” says Eve Good, who has been fostering the kangaroo dog. “You are his new best friend, and you are going to love him.”
Tigger lives with Eve and also five other dog friends.
The pain this adorable pit bull feels unfortunately gets worse every day. In fact vets are afraid that his shoulder will dislocate, and he has arthritis already. Surgery is necessary if he is still going to have mobility.
“If he doesn’t get this fixed, his life is significantly shortened,” Sarah Ostrin, a veterinary physical therapist offering her services free of charge. “It will be so excruciatingly painful.”
The surgery fuses bones together in his legs. As a result Tigger will then be able to wear prosthetics, Ostrin said. Moving Tigger’s paw pads to the correct location will protect his toes when he doesn’t have the prosthetics on.
